Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on long-term medication may request their repeat prescriptions by post, telephone, fax or email. 

Please allow 48 hours for requests to be processed

Dispensing Services

Ashwell Surgery offers a full dispensing service to all patients living more than a mile from a chemist.  This enables patients to collect their medication after their consultation with the Doctor. 

The dispensary is also able to offer advice on free prescription services, exemption certificates, pre-payment certificates and the disposal of unwanted/unused medication.

Repeat Prescriptions from Ashwell Surgery

Please allow two working days for repeat prescriptions to be processed. Repeats can be requested in writing by post, direct to the surgery, by fax (0844 4994776) or by email (JulieBird@nhs.net ). To ensure we correctly identify you, it is ESSENTIAL to include your:

• full name
• address
• date of birth

In addition, we can now take your requests by telephone between 0844 4994777. option 4

For patient convenience, the dispensary at Ashwell is now offering extended opening from 8.30am - 6.00pm, except on Tuesday when the surgery closes at 1.30pm.

Please allow two working days for repeat prescriptions to be processed. Repeats can be requested in writing by post, direct to the surgery, by fax (0844 4994779) or by email (christina.hitchnhs.net ). To ensure we correctly identify you, it is ESSENTIAL to include your:

• full name
• address
• date of birth

In addition, we can now take your requests by telephone 0844 4994778.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
