Prescriptions

Both surgeries have a full dispensing service with trained staff. Patients living more than a mile from a chemist may get all their prescriptions directly from either surgery. Our friendly and experienced team can also provide you with advice on how to get help with prescription costs and how to apply for exemption certificates if you are currently taking more than two items of repeat medication per month.
Drugs Returns Service
We would like to remind you that patients can return any used, unused or out-of-date medication to the Dispensary for safe destruction and disposal, in accordance with current legal requirements.
Surgical Appliances
We offer a confidential, next-day service for stoma appliances, catheters, hosiery, trusses and dressings, working in partnership with an experienced company. Simply hand your prescription to one of our Dispensers and we will do the rest.
Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions from Ashwell Surgery
Please allow two working days for repeat prescriptions to be processed. Repeats can be requested in writing by post, direct to the surgery, by fax (0844 4994776) or by email (JulieBird@nhs.net ). To ensure we correctly identify you, it is ESSENTIAL to include your:
- full name,
- address,
- and date of birth.
In addition, we can now take your requests by telephone between 0844 4994777. option 4
For patient convenience, the dispensary at Ashwell is now offering extended opening from 8.30am - 6.00pm, except on Tuesday when the surgery closes at 1.30pm.

Please allow two working days for repeat prescriptions to be processed.
