Pressure on appointments

We realise that there has been a shortage of appointments recently, due to changes in availability of doctors, GP Registrars in training (unfortunately a national problem), and staff general annual leave.

Thank you for your understanding and patience through the recent very difficult time the surgery has experienced.  We hope this will settle back to a normal routine in the coming few weeks.

Your support has been greatly appreciated

Dispensary early closing on Wednesdays

Due to temporary staff shortages, we will have to close the dispensary at 5:30pm every Wednesday from 1/6/2016. At other times, it will be open as usual.

Over 75s 'named doctor'

The Department of Health has decided that every patient over the age of 75 must have a named doctor who is responsible for their health care.

The responsibilities of the named GP are to:

  • Take lead responsibility for ensuring that all appropriate services required under the contract with the practice are delivered to the patient
  • Where required, based on the professional judgement of the named GP, work with relevant associated health and social care professionals to deliver a multidisciplinary care package that meets the needs of the patient
  • Ensure that the physical and psychological needs of the patient are recognised and responded to by the relevant clinicians in the practice
  • Ensure that the patient has access to a health check if requested, which is already a requirement of the GP contract regulations.

You will all receive a letter informing you of this. However, this makes no difference whatsoever to you in terms of which doctor(s) you choose to see. You are free to see any of us, just as you always have been.
