Threat to GP Services
Dr Jarvis's open letter about the threat to local GP services:
"We start the year with the prediction that it is going to be a turbulent year for family doctors. The government wants to change the way we work again. GP leaders believe that the government favours a move away from small traditional practices like ours to large town based polyclinics. These polyclinics will be staffed by large numbers of doctors caring for many more patients than traditional practices.
We are very proud of the high quality care we have provided at Ashwell Surgery over the decades. We place a very high value on continuity of care from a doctor who knows his or her patient well and we believe patients value this highly too. It is very encouraging to receive support from The Patients´ Group and from our patients as a whole and we hope to rely on your continued support in the times ahead."
Dr Jarvis.

Teaching
Dr Kieran Seyan has taken over as our current registrar.
We also now have F2 doctors with us for four months at a time. These are doctors in their second year after qualification who are gaining valuable experience working in general practice before entering a specialist qualification rotation.
